Casco Township Library

Casco Township residents are served by the Fennville District Library, located on M-89 on the west side of downtown Fennville, www.fennvillelibrary.org. Casco residents support the Fennville District Library by an annual .35 millage, which includes access to the Lakeland Cooperative. The Fennville Distric Library recently recieved a large memorial gift for Letha Crane. It consists of books by Michigan Authors for Children and Adults.

Library hours are:
Monday, Tues, Wed. Thurs. 10 am to 8 pm
Friday 10 am to 5 pm
Sat. 10 am to 2 pm
Sunday 2 to 4pm.

Books and media checked out by patrons can be returned to the Casco Township library drop box located in the foyer of the Casco Township Hall (accessible at all hours).

Reports about library activity are heard regularly at Casco Township Board meetings.

The Fennville District Library is currently showcasing a variety of new books by Michigan Authors. These items were purchased through a generous public donation in memory of Fennville resident Letha Crane. The books range in genre from Children's Picture Books to Adult Nonfiction Books. RE: UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE FENNVILLE DISTRICT LIBRARY

The Fennville District Library's "SUMMER READING BEGINNING PARTY" will be held on Friday, June 8th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm in the Lower Level of the library. During this event children and teens will sign up for the six- week "Summer Reading Program". There will also be face painting, ice cream treats, and activity tables. Bill Alwin will be guest presenter exhibiting a variety of animal artifacts. The theme of this year's program is "Get a Clue" for ages birth-12 and "You Never Know" for ages 12-18.

The Fennville District Library invites the community to "MEET THE NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR" on Thursday, June 14th from 1 pm-5 pm. During this open house the public will have the opportunity to meet and greet the Library Director Mary Hill, tour the Fennville District Library facility, and enjoy free refreshments. This event is sponsored by the Fennville District Library Board of Directors.

2007 Fennville District Library Summer Reading Events

All events take place in Library’s Lower Level

Summer Reading Kick Off Party – Join us for an afternoon of fun as you sign up for the 2007 Summer Reading Program titled “Get a Clue ” for Children ages Birth – 11 & “You Never Know” for Teens ages 12-18. Register for the Summer Reading Club and set your reading goals.
DATE: Friday June 8th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm (ALL AGES)

Movie Mondays – Every Monday view mysterious movies in the Library’s Lower Level.
DATES: Mondays June 11th, June 18th , June 25th, July 2nd, July 9th and July 16th from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm (ALL AGES)

Mystery Play – Calling all performers! During these one-day workshops you will audition, rehearse and perform a short play based with a mystery theme. Please bring a sack lunch! Performance at 1:30!
DATES: Tuesday June 12th from 10 am-2:00 pm. (Ages 6-8)
Wednesday June 27th from 10:00-2:00 pm (Ages 9-11)

Baby/Toddler Story Time - Children Ages Birth to 3 may come and enjoy a variety of stories, finger plays and songs. There will be a social playtime following (for parents too)! Small snacks will be provided.
DATES: Wednesday June 13th and Wednesday July 18th 11 am-11:30

Story Time & Craft – Children may come and listen to a variety of stories and songs based on the “Get a Clue” theme. A fun and easy craft will follow.
DATES: Thursdays June 14th, 21st, and 28th at 11:30 am & 6:30 pm
Thursdays July 12th and 19th at 11:00 am and 6:30 pm (Ages 4-10)

Storyteller Jennifer Strauss – Enjoy the famous Michigan Storyteller as she presents a variety of exciting and suspenseful stories from around the world.
Date: Tuesday June 19th 2:00pm -3:00 pm (ALL AGES)

Scavenger Hunt – Search, scrounge and dig through the library on a quest to find a variety of hidden treasures. Prizes awarded!!
Date: Friday June 22nd from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm (ALL AGES)

Tween Mystery Writing Workshop – Do you like writing scary or mysterious stories? You will have the chance to write and perform your work!
DATE: Tuesday July 3rd from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm (ages 8-12)

Mystery Writing Workshop – Always wanted to write a murder mystery? You will have the chance to write, illustrate and perform these spooky tales!
DATE: Wednesday July 10th from 2:00 pm

Movie Mondays – Mondays June 11,18,25

CSI – Crime Scene Insects– Discover how insects play a role in solving crimes. Presented by the Young Entomologists Society.

Grossology Cooking Workshop – What’s that smell? Have fun making gross, slimy and disgusting goodies using household ingredients.

Summer Reading Ending Party with Magician Renee Hudson – Gasp in amazement at the awesome magic tricks of Renee Hudson starting promptly at 3:00 pm! Prizes will be awarded after her performance! DON’T MISS IT!
