Taxes are collected twice each year. They are due in mid-September and mid-February, with the due date clearly stated on the tax bill. Postmarks are not honored. The Treasurer keeps extended office hours as the tax collection date draws near to be available to receive payments.

To pay delinquent property taxes, go to www.allegancounty.org and click on “pay
delinquent taxes” in the upper left hand corner of the home page You may
now search for parcels using an address, owner’s name, or parcel number.

By the first week in March, tax payers receive an assessment notice in the mail that shows the taxable value and the S.E.V. (State Equalized Value) of each parcel owned.
If you wish to protest the valuation placed upon your property, you must contact the Tax Board of Review in person, by fax (269) 639-1991 or in writing. The Board of Review conducts public hearings during the month of March explicitly for the purpose of hearing residents’ protests. Please call to make an appointment to appear before the Board of Review (269) 637-4441. Be prepared to give reasons why you believe the valuation is erroneous. The Tax Board of Review, comprised of the Supervisor and three residents of the Township who are appointed to two year terms, review the protested valuations and respond in writing.
In 2008, the Board of Review will meet on the following dates:
